Throughout the continent of Africa, the Middle East, and small parts of East Asia the Chamaeleonidea species can call any plant or tree it's home. One can even discover the species in states such as Hawaii, California, and Florida. As most of you know a chameleon can turn into any color it pleases on top of obtaining three dimensional sight. These facts prove the chameleon to be a master when it goes to hunting down it's prey. I personally don't blame the chameleon for being the way it is. Living in an environment such as a forest or a jungle you're either living another day or someone's next meal.
Growing up as a member of the African American community I never had a permanent set of friends to associate with. This caused me to blend in with any crowd. My high school years helped shaped the identity I carry and wear today. One minute I sat with the introverts. Next I would sit with the popular kids. Than I would sit and chat with the jocks from time to time. By the time I would start college entering a room with different personalities would be a piece of cake.
Politically, I have become chameleon-like as well (reason known and unknown). Between 2018-2020, a great awakening took place. MSNBC and CNN tried to make truth out of lies. Out of the norm behavior practiced by those on the left was seen as okay, but if a person was apart of the "alt-right" he/or she was dismissed immediately. This being too much to bare I became intolerant of the bias and bigotry of the talking points of the legacy media. In the matter of a couple of months my taste for Anderson Copper was replaced with Joe Rogan and Don Lemon with Lex Fridman. Magazines and newspapers haven't triggered my intellectual cravings since my days as a teenager. Come to think of it my blogs series' have become my to-go place reading pieces of literature.
Netflix and Chill works very well in helping control my anxiety and keeping me in a positive sense of self. I like my entertainment like I live my current state of life, apolitical. One of the main reason most people tune into Netflix is due to the fact that all of the movies, shows, and documentaries that the mainstream wouldn't dare air can make their way onto the platform. Although you have your Stranger Things and the rest, I love the comedy specials. Dave Chappelle's Sticks & Stones and Chris Rock's Tambourine both take the cake. There's nothing wrong with telling the truth (according to oneself). If one steps on other's toes while doing it, than so shall it be.
We as humans can learn a ton from the chameleon. How to keep quiet and blend in is first. Second would be to try live and survive another day (by any means necessary). Another thing would be to coordinate your clothing (LOL). In all honesty we have to be more careful as to who we decide to listen to and idolize. Media, public figures, athletes, and music artist shouldn't be placed on pedestals. Our inner light and instincts are the only things we should seek refuge in. Above everything critical thinking and individuality is most important.-[4/27/2021]
